January of 2023, we will subscribe to the premium version of the GAIA GPS app for our phones. It’s a good backup and also includes features where the Guthook App lacks. With this app, we will be able to:
- download and have the map of the trail offline on our phone
- be able to print certain sections of the trail beforehand
- it shows weather conditions and the precip for the next 24 hours
- help find dispersed campsites
- many layers of maps to help navigate showing different looks
- help find trails that lead to safety if we have to bail somewhere to get to go in the right direction to hit a roadway or towards a town
- map layers that show cell coverage for different USA plans
- maps showing wildfires
